Rohtang Pass, Manali
Rohtang Pass lies 51 kms from Manali and is reached at a height of 3980 m, serves as a gateway to Lahaul and Spiti. It is opened for tourists for a short season span. The weather here, changes very quickly and heavy snowfall at such a height makes it really a dangerous place. Therefore, the name Rohtang, meaning 'Pile of Dead Bodies' in Tibetan, is given to this Pass. Yet the place is a favorite hotspot among tourists and is visited by thousands every season.
