Naggar, the Heritage Village

The village houses a unique castle that is located above Katrain. Most of the buildings here are built of timber wood and are strong enough to stand for centuries.
With a peaceful atmosphere, the place certainly draws everyone's attention to stop by and see. The royal castle was built by Raja Sidh Singh which served as his residence until the 17th Century after which it became summer capital until the British influence in 1846. The castle was sold to a British Major Hay who served as first Assistant Commissioner. He then, changed its entire look by giving it a European look.
Another attraction here, is Uruswati Himalayan Folk Art Museum founded in 1928, by Professor Nicholas Roerich.
